Exam will be marked and then a 30 minute learning session will follow in order to ensure student fully understands the corrections.

Internal Assessments

PTA School of Music strongly supports the Royal Conservatory of Music examination process, but we also understand that not all students can attend all exams for every grade.

We have therefore implemented a exible program in order to provide similar feedback to students and also to celebrate milestones.

Internal Assessments may be booked any time of the year. Students are not restricted by the three exam sessions oered by the RCM and students can therefore progress through the RCM levels at their own pace.Students receive similar feedback to an actual exam.

In addition, students and parents can request to have it graded using the RCM grading system or to have no grades used at all. Students will receive written assessment for each grade completed.

Students who are nervous about an exam can complete an Internal Assessment a few weeks prior to their “real” exam to get an idea of what it will be like.

Internal Assessments are more reasonably priced than RCM examinations therefore enabling students to benet from assessment at all levels.

Students are, however, encouraged to complete the following within the RCM Examination program:

• One (1) RCM exam between grades 1-3,
• Two (2) RCM exams between grades 3-6
• One (1) or all of RCM exams Grades 7, 8, and 9.

Internal Assessments will now also be covered for Theory Rudiments students. Students completing Preliminary (Basic) and Grade 1 (Intermediate) Rudiments may now complete their exams in-house. Grade 2 (Advanced) Rudiments should be completed through the RCM examinations program.
